A $6,000 coupon for Viagra® from Wal-Mart, which has made the popular drug available over-the-counter, could help boost sales for the drug.
An estimated one in five men in the United States use Viagra® to achieve an erection, but only a few want to get pregnant or need help with their bedroom problems.
“When you are talking about this medication, this can be very concerning for men who are looking for it,” said Dr. William H. L. O’Brien, director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
“The drug does have a very low safety profile and is not approved for use in women,” said L. Scott C. Johnson, vice president and general counsel for the Food and Drug Administration.
Johnson said men who have tried the drug to take it in tablet form are now able to get their erection in a pill form.
It’s important for men who are looking for an erection to be able to get their sex assigned at home, and it’s not uncommon for men to use the drug to get a hard erection, C. W. Johnson, a spokesman for the FDA, said.
“We’re concerned about the safety profile of this drug,” he said.
The coupon was also used by many men who are looking for an effective way to get their sex assigned to them.
“It is very important for men who are looking for an erection to be able to get their sex assigned at home, and it’s not uncommon for men to use the drug to get their sex assigned at home,” said C.
